dc.description.abstractThis project aims to design a preventive maintenance program to reduce recurring failures in the compressor used by PetroTech, through the implementation of a structured monitoring plan that contributes to the company’s operational management. The study followed a descriptive methodology with a qualitative approach, developed in four phases. First, technical information was collected through a field visit, failure history review, and the application of an Ishikawa diagram to identify the main causes of compressor failures. Second, a process flow diagram was developed for calibration and internal pipe cleaning services, supported by a checklist applied to operators to evaluate the current condition of the compressor. Third, an economic assessment was carried out to compare the costs associated with corrective and preventive maintenance. Finally, a preventive maintenance program was designed based on technical, operational, and economic recommendations, including a continuous inspection format to support monitoring activities. The results showed significant deviations in lubrication, maintenance records, electrical inspection, instrument calibration, and leakage control, with an overall compliance level of 58%. The findings indicate that standard preventive maintenance represents a lower average cost compared to unexpected failure repairs. Therefore, the implementation of the proposed program would help extend the compressor’s service life, reduce operational risks, improve equipment reliability, and strengthen PetroTech’s operational efficiency.es_ES
